Animal-rights activists are partly responsible for many people turning away from wearing real fur. Because of public awareness campaigners, more people are hesitant to wear real fur either, because of ethical reasons (killing animals for their fur) or fear of being called out.
Some designers ( Vivienne Westwood, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger) renounced using real fur in their collections some years back. According to Marco Bizzarri, chief executive officer for Gucci…they won’t be using real fur from 2018. Stella McCartney (committed vegan) has never used real fur.
Faux fur has become very popular and can now be found on all the high streets and internet. They are also very warm. Some look real but I don’t think I’ve ever seen yellow, pink or purple animals, although real fur could be dyed. Rest assured – the one I’m wearing is faux!
What better way to make a statement than with a colour-popping faux fur coat! Check out my selection below.
