Caring For Your Hands

COVID-19 has now forced us to wash our hands more often with soap and water which is more effective than using hand sanitizers. We are told in order to reduce the risk of contracting the virus we should use alcohol-based hand sanitizers which contain at least 60% alcohol when we are on the go, or in situations where there aren’t any possibility of washing with soap and water. This advice should be taken seriously – as I’m sure most of us are doing… and if not, then you should start right now.

While washing and sanitizing help to prevent spreading and picking up the virus, my hands have become drier – although I’m repeatedly moisturising them. I have used many different hand creams…some because I like the smell or the packaging or the brand with a price tag. They have all worked well until COVID-19.

I started using Neutrogena which is one of my favourite hand creams of all times. I always used this when I needed a bit more than regular hand cream. It protects and repairs dry sensitive skin and chapped hands. It feels a little greasy at first but not for long. My hands are noticeably smoother and softer. It’s reasonably priced and a little goes a long way.

Before going to bed apply a generous amount of good-old-fashion vaseline to your hands and wear gloves overnight. Below are some of my favourite hand creams that are reasonably priced.

You need to moisturise each time after washing your hands. It really helps. Thanks, Ashley!

Thanks for the tip hon! Spring is supposedly here but in Berlin, the winds are ruthless so it’s important to stay moisturized.
Wishing you a good week ahead, Xo

Nice post on some tried and trues, as well as a few brands that are new to me. My mother coated her face in vaseline every night, and had the most beautiful, line-free skin. Think I might stick with hands for now! I also really like L’Occitane Shea Butter hand Cream…and so does my husband. Stay well, Yvonne!

My grandmother plastered vaseline all over and she had the most amazing skin. Sometimes I use it on my face around the eye area. I love shea butter in all creams! It’s very good, especially for dry skin. Thank you

It sounds like a great solution. I have not left a house for over two weeks so thankfully don’t have to go through this washing regime but it was a nightmare when I was still travelling to the office! xx

Staying at home is the best we can do to prevent catching or spreading the virus. Stay safe! xx
