Classic Dressing For Less

Classic Dressing For Less

Dressing elegantly doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to spend a lot to get the look. Important is to buy clothes that fit you well and flatter your body shape. Quite often I have to take my clothes – especially trousers, to a tailor to get a proper fit. When my clothes fit well, I feel more confident. A well-tailored outfit can look a lot more expensive than it actually is.

Go with neutrals if you are unsure or reluctant about wearing colours and create a monochromatic look using colours in the same colour palette.

Because your dress style is classic – it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s boring or dated. By adding different textures or patterns, the look becomes more interesting. I layered a blouse under a knit vest which automatically  puts a modern twist on this outfit.

Wear a simple button-down shirt – and elevate your outfit with a simple necklace or statement collar necklace which stops just around the collar-bone. This is another option to take your outfit up a notch. You will find a lot of beautiful and timeless pieces if you follow the link. Let me know what you think about their jewellery.

Good style starts with having a few basics in your wardrobe that will make getting dressed much easier. A wardrobe with timeless basics that can be worn often will also save you some money. A pair of tailored trousers with a buttoned-down shirt creates a perfect timeless classic canvas for some accessories. A simple accessory as a scarf can elevate your outfit and incorporate some colour such as this printed one or try a scarf in a complementary colour.

I’m sharing a monochromatic look with light colours which automatically looks smart and more expensive than it actually is. Having colours of the same shade in your wardrobe makes it much easier to create an outfit.

I love good quality and well-made bags so I tend to invest a bit more in them. This one is beautifully made and it’s in the sales.

Massimo Dutti: blouse and Knit-vest

Zara: trousers

This is such a gorgeous classic look, Yvonne, and it looks amazing on you. I love neutrals but I also love a pop of colour, I have to admit. And I agree – if clothes fit me well, I feel confident – plus who wants to re-adjust their clothes all day! Ain’t nobody got time for that!
