Next Destination – Thailand

Now that some covid-19 travel restrictions has been lifted in some countries, we are thinking of different places to visit.Thailand should be on your next-to-visit-list. There is something for everyone and the people are very friendly. Always check for travel restrictions update.
This is an update of a post you have probably seen already.

I have been to Thailand many times, but it never fails to impress me. It’s as if I’m constantly discovering something new when I’m there. I went with my husband and two other friends. After a couple of days in Phuket, we decided to go to Krabi so we hired a driver and it took us around two hours to get there. There is an authenticity about Krabi. The town is laid-back,  so you get more insights of the local way of life.  We had a private tour with a rented speed- boat and soaked up the sun away from the hustle and bustle of Krabi town. The scenery and sandy beaches with shallow water and beautiful limestone cliffs are simply beautiful.

Chiang Mai is north of Bangkok, about an hour and ten minutes flight away and surrounded by mountains. It is much more relaxed and has a large expat community. There are many restaurants and bars along the riverside, some with live music which is frequented by expats and local residents.
About halfway to Chiang Rai, we stopped off at Love Spoon Coffee House. It’s beautiful and quaint and serves delicious coffee and cakes. So yummy! At the back, you can enjoy the view of the rice fields.

The most beautiful temples can be found in Chiang Rai – one of them – probably the best known is, The White Temple – designed, created and privately owned by Chalermchai Kositpipat, a local artist.

Not to be missed is The Blue Temple. This is relatively new. Construction started in 2005 and was completed in 2016. It is a lot smaller than the white temple and well worth a visit. The colour is predominantly blue with gold embellishments. The intricate details and statures are beautiful.
